Appearance of email messages on a MacBook Air laptop

How can I enlarge the appearance of my email messages on a MacBook Air laptop? My font is a 12 pt but the appearance on my screen is teeny.

System Preferences > Accessibility. What you may have to do is invoke zoom.

Mac Mail text is too small I understand that there are workarounds with viewing received messages, but there are no real solutions to composing a message when the default font is so tiny. Zooming using various preferences is not a solution but in fact an annoyance, especially on a MacBook with small screen. And I will posit this: Apple has a duty to be sensitive to those who are visually challenged/impaired by incorporating reasonably viewable text size into the mail app. As well, by defaulting text in Mail to such a tiny size, it is probably that users are harming their eyesight trying to compose and read emails, especially children.
