iMac Mid 2011 OSX 10.8.5 not connecting

Hi.

I still use a iMac Mid 2011 OS X 10.8.5 for day to day use. Commonly, when I don’t turn the computer off. I turn it on the next morning and it can’t connect to the internet. I use Ethernet although I don’t see this being a problem.

The only solution is to pull the power because I can’t turn the system off during no internet.

This got annoying lately because I was using Text Edit on something. I didn’t know I was connected until I attempted to print it and it got stuck on the beach ball of death. I fear pulling the power because I may lose my progress.

Any solutions on fixing the internet bug and helping me save my TextEdit file to Desktop?
