Delete icon greyed out on i books ?

Having read a book I want to delete from i books . I press edit tick the book that I have finished , however delete is greyed out ?

any suggestions

To remove a book from your Apple Books Library, tap the associated ellipsis icon (“…”) to expose a menu.

From the menu, select Remove.

Apple iBooks Since installing IOS 16 I cannot close the book I'm reading in Apple iBooks to get back to my library. I've have tapped all over my screen. Hit the X in the top right corner which just closes the app. I've called up menu in the bottom right corner where all it gives me are the Contents, Search Book, Themes & Settings, and upload icon and the bookmark contact. It has no home/library button to tap. Any ideas of what to do? This is maddening as I tend to read most of my ebooks on this app.

Books and files disappeared in iBook app my book app had many different file types, some pdfs, some epubs, some samples and purchased books from the bookstore. I went to delete a duplicate epub, and the app glitched and ended up selected all books/files in the app and deleted them before I could click out of the command. Now I cannot find any of the books again, there is no recently deleted file or previously purchased file on the Books app which is incredibly frustrating. Some books and pdfs show up in the “recent” grouo of the “reading now” tab, but no books appear in the “library” tab. I have no idea what happened with all of my books and files nor how to get them back! Why is there not a recently deleted tab on the Books app!!

Trying to close a book and get back to the library or store in updated Books app Since the latest updates, I absolutely hate the Books app (and it sounds like that’s a common theme). But the absolute worst thing is that I can’t figure out how to get it to close a book, so for example to close what you’re currently reading (whether book or sample) and get back to the library or store. I’ve tried all kinds of stuff, all over the screen. If there’s a magic word, please tell me what it is. I’ve tried abracadabra and it doesn’t work.
