My MacBook Pro 2018 13” touchbar won’t charge or start up

My MBPro won’t startup, looks dead in fact, no keyboard lights, no audio, no activity, nothing. Left alone for about 2 months and tried to start it up today.

  • I’ve left it ‘charging’ with a 100w Apple charger for a few hours. No indication that it’s charging at all.
  • I’ve tried the following
  • - make sure your power cable and adapter are not broken.
  • - Press the power button for 10 seconds
  • - This from another site 1) Remove the power cable from your MacBook Pro 2) Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then (don’t release the button!) plug the power cable back into your MacBook Pro. 3) Release the power button when you see your MacBook Pro start up.
  • Reset the SMC

At a loss bar sending off for service. All suggestions welcome.

If you let the battery become completely discharged for any length of time it can prevent the battery from charging or even powering on the laptop. It can also permanently damage the battery.

You may need to let the battery charge overnight to see if it may start to take a charge.

Also, make sure you are using the proper method to perform the SMC Reset since the procedure has changed beginning with the 2018+ models.

You should also connect the charger to another USB-C port especially on the other side of the laptop.
