recording steps

How do I set my Apple Watch series 7 to record my steps when it's set on water fitness mode? The face shows me calories, time and heartbeat. I'd prefer to see steps.

Thanks for your reply. With everything this watch can do, it’s hard to believe it can’t count steps in the water. How disappointing 😞

You can't measure steps in the water fitness workout,only calories burnt and time.
