What type of battery should I get for mid-2009 Macbook Pro 15"?

I have a 15" Macbook Pro mid-2009. I need to replace the battery.

I don't live in the US and there are no Apple stores in my country. I'd rather not buy from iFixit or Amazon since the international shipping costs + customs tax is going to be ridiculously expensive.

So, I'm going to have to buy the battery locally, but I don't know what kind of battery to buy.

What type of battery should I look for?

You can't buy a battery for your Mac, neither can you replace it yourself. Any batteries sold online may be incompatible, broken, or both, as there's no way to tell with loose parts. Apple doesn't sell any batteries officially.

You'll have to send it in for service. As your MacBook is considered obsolete, normal service is no longer possible. However, Apple gives an exception for battery replacement (which is what you need)-

Apple discontinues all hardware service for obsolete products, with the sole exception of Mac notebooks that are eligible for an additional battery-only repair period. Service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products.

I would say to look at alternative options listed here (either local service providers or sending it in) - Mac Repair - Official Apple Support
