We just got a new iMac, and I want to install the Google Chrome browser. (Note that the iMac referenced below from a dropdown list shows 2 ports; ours has 4.). Can this be done? A couple of websites we use work better with Chrome.

Obviously you can, https://www.google.com/chrome/ should automatically detect which version is right for you, ad it will just download.
If it shows a page where you can select between Intel or Apple Silicon, choose Apple Silicon and it's all done.

Google Chrome - known Memory / CPU Hog, invasive and harvests your user Data for Google to sell, yes sell to the highest Bidders.
Your choice but would probably go with www.brave.com for similar experience without the " Over Head " of Google.

I'll let others explain why you might want a different browser.
Of course, do so at your own risk. Chrome is notorious for tracking your every move and selling your data to advertisers. But it’s your choice.
