When using Garageband I've found that the output input and output devices (as selectable thru 'Preference' > 'Devices') will randomly switch to programs I have installed like MS Teams and Echo360. Sometimes this even happens mid-playback, leading to the sound just cutting out. Is there a way to set defaults to stop this happening?
