Take a look at the charge on your battery. The phone needs to be charged at least 50% for a software update to occur. Better to connect the phone to the charger and then update that way.
There are other things that will prevent an update from occurring as well, but this one is obvious.

There are a few reasons why this can happen. Reason 1: Your device is not charged past 50% yet. Reason 2: Update files may be missing/corrupt. Reason 3: Problem with the device’s hardware/software. Reason 4: Unsupported Update.
(Reminder: I have learnt a lot about iOS and the iPhone itself. Please do not say I don’t have a lot of knowledge about iOS. I always check Tips every now and some other things.)
