Print Icon Missing from Dock
My printer icon no longer appears in the dock when I am printing – how do I add it back?

Command P initiates the print dialog (?)
If it launches the printer see it in the right side of the Dock (Recently Used)—Control Click >Options> "keep in Dock"
or Drag your printer it from your Applications folder to the Dock

Use the Dock on Mac - Apple Support
The dynamic printer icon in the Dock only remains as long as the print operation requires to send it to the printer's buffer. If it is a one or two page print job, the print icon may not last long enough in the Dock for you to detect it.
