I really like using Tags for my files in the Finder, and I have a pretty good system.
But why, oh why do the tags sometimes disappear? I can't figure out what makes it happen sometimes, and sometimes not. Help me!

Finder tags will disappear when you move them to a cloud service or remote filesystem that strips the Apple extended attributes from the documents. I have never had a tag disappear while it was on an Apple filesystem or iCloud Drive.

Mine have never disappeared.
Once they go, do they come back? If so, can you ID a particular action that brings them back?
That makes sense, as I'm using Google Drive. I can live with the occasional hiccup between my Mac and the G-word.
