i want to know the latest version of macbook because right now I’m at El Capitan. but i see no updates lined up ??? and id like to update ASAP because i ned to access my drive and excel but not without a update. Why do i need a disk so use the time machine to do a back up ?

Thank you that was helpful but I’m still not able to find any updates due, could it be i just can no longer update and can’t use my google drive on this computer ?
i can see my serial number and etc but no way to pull up a compatible update even from the app store/itunes
