Pop up on my screen said my iPhone has been hacked

while surfing the Internet, a pop up appeared on my screen saying my phone has been hacked. I closed out of the browser right away. How do I know if this is legit?

Delete the message or pop up. Things like this are always scams that are trying to sell you useless software or worse.....attempts to trick you into providing your Apple ID and Password.
