bootable flash OS download

Trying to make a bootable flash drive.

When I click on the download for OS Catalina I am redirected to the App Store, which will only download it as an update , not as an independent installer - as Install macOS Catalina dmg. .This MacBook is running Monterey.

Is there another way or place to download.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15

To perform this action will require booting from a Bootable Installer

The Bootable Installer can Only be performed on an Apple Computer

This will have to be performed from a Qualifying Computer to run the version of macOS to be made on the Bootable Installer. Example : Bootable Installer of Catalina would have to be done on a computer that Qualifies to run Catalina.

Notation: If the computer being used to perform this action is Too New or Too Old to qualify to run the version of macOS - this computer can not be used.

Alternative is, to gain access to a Qualifying Apple Computer from a family member, friend or associate.

To download an OS installer you need to be using a Qualifying Mac. A Qualifying Mac is one which is compatible with the OS you want to download. Downloading Catalina will require a Mac from 2012 to 2018 and a few models from early 2019. This is even true when using the command line as suggested by @dialabrain.

Here is an article which shows which versions of macOS are compatible with various Apple hardware in order to locate a Qualifying Mac:
