Messages not receiving images/gifs

On an iPhone 11, after the latest update. I can send gifs in messages, but cannot receive them from other iPhone users. Sometimes I am notified there is a gif that I just can’t see, other times nothing comes through at all. This is happening from iPhone users, not specifically only android. I’ve tried several resets and it is still not fixed.

When I’m sent a gif in messages, it is like a Denial of Service (DoS) as going into Settings\Messages freezes the iPhone and ONLY a reboot recovers using the iPhone.

Hello minal64,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Try starting with the guidance in If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support which addresses Messages issues specifically. If there is an issue with the network or your contact details, those steps can help get it sorted.

If this continues and you've worked through the steps above, check to see if any restrictions are enabled from Settings > Screen Time. If so, there may be settings that are preventing some changes or content on your iPhone. Check out Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support for further details.

Take care.
