Monitor not working after Monterey 12.5 Update

I'm having a similar issue that other users are having, but none of the recommended steps have worked.

I just updated my Mac Mini M1 from Mac OS Monterey 12.3.1 to 12.5. The first major issue I'm having is my Dell U3219Q monitor is no longer detected via USB-C. I had to connect an older Samsung monitor via HDMI just to have a display. None of the recommended fixes work that I've searched for online.

The second problem I'm having is that now when I boot my Mac Mini, almost every application that I have installed launches at startup. I have to wait for them all to finish launching so I can quit them one at at time.

This is the first issue I've had with my Mac Mini, the 12.5 Monterey update is badly broken, can we expect a fix anytime soon?

Please help or advise...

A - May be able to assist with the Applications auto launching at Startup but not some much on the Monitor aspect of your issue.

A- What is appearing in System Preferences >> Uses and Groups >> Login Items under Your Account ? Are there applications set to launch when the computer is first turned on ? Is so, unlock your account >> Padlock Lowe left in picture below and remove the applications via the Minus ( -) symbol.

A - When the computer is set to shutdown, are all applications closed or still open or minimized to the dock. Is the check mark enabled with a check mark in image below

Thanks, but I solved the applications problem already. I unchecked the box to reopen open applications after reboot and that fixed that problem. But I still cant use a monitor via USB-C to DisplayPort cable like I have been for months. It appears my Mac Mini's USB-C ports become unrecognized after updating to Monterey to 12.5. I wish I had never done that. I don't use Time Machine, so I don't have a backup to restore from.

UPDATE: My Dell monitor is working again via the USB-C connection! Now I just wish I could remember the exact steps I took, but it went something like this. I had a Samsung 27" monitor connected via HDMI and the Dell U3219Q connected via USB-C when I updated to Monterey 12.5 and the Dell stopped working (no USB-C signal detected). After several reboots, I disconnected the Samsung monitor and used the HDMI cable to connect my Dell, just to get it working again. Then I unplugged the HDMI cable and reconnected the Dell via USB-C, and reconnected the Samsung via HDMI the way it was before the update, and now everything works again. Perhaps the key was just unplugging both monitors and reconnecting to "wake up" the display connections. Hope this helps others with the same issue...

Update: After disconnecting, changing different USB C wires, went back to the Dell one and it started working. Of course, after restarting the computer 5-6 times.

In between, safari was hanging as well. Key i think is to restart without opening the old apps automatically. restart from dead!

Must mention... MBP14 now super fast

You are absolutely a saviour. After my MacBook pro got updated to 12.5, my Samsung smart monitor didn’t work either. Tried all sorts of methods, none of them actually worked. Thought something went wrong with my monitor and then thought to give it a try by googling it. Your solution just came up. This is my first comment here and I have to let you know that you took all of my frustration away with only one switch. lol

I had a similar problem. My Mac Pro updated to 12.5.1 and my LG monitor would not correctly center at its screen image at high res (1920x1080). It seemed as if the OS had forgotten how to set the display.

I did an SMC reboot. You'll have to look that up both to learn how to do it on your machine (they seem to vary) and on what it is -- I can't detail that here.

It worked very easily. When the my Mac Pro was finished booting the LG monitor behaved normally. Phew -- I was ready to go out and buy another monitor.
