Siri’s Voice Pixelated/Low Audio Quality

Hello fellow Apples,

Since the upgrade to Siri voices, I’ve been using them for text to speech when possible. I’ve read about the (excellent) Siri voices switching to an awful distorted and low quality mode when a phone is on low power mode, but I have been finding that my iPhone SE (2020) has been switching to the grainy version of any Siri voice at random for several months (including when plugged in).

-Restarting the phone or Wi-Fi connection will make it switch back to a normal voice for a brief interval, but it always switches back to the grainy voice within a few minutes.

-Deleting and re-downloading the Siri voice files has similarly had no effect.

Siri is a great feature and ensuring you're getting the quality you expect from Siri is important. Restarting your iPhone and Wi-Fi are both great steps to help work towards a resolution, along with deleting and redownloading voices. To confirm, does this issue only occur when connected to a Wi-Fi network or does it occur when connected to cellular data?

If the issue only occurs when connected to Wi-Fi, do you notice the issue when connected to a different network? If not, troubleshooting the Wi-Fi network would be the right next step. In addition to restarting the router, have you checked for any applicable firmware updates the router may have? If not, you may need to reach out to the manufacturer to check for updates.

If the issue doesn't appear to be related to a specific network, the next step is to update iOS. If you need to reference the steps for updating, they can be found in the article below.
