does apple tv support ultrawide monitor (3440 x 1440)

I have an 34 inch LG ultra wide monitor. It works well with direct connection to MacBook Pro via HDMI. When connected via Apple TV the resolution is different and Images are distorted. I tried selecting 3440 x 1440 in display settings in Apple but it’s not working. Tried updating and restarting Apple TV but the wide angle resolution is not getting applied in Apple TV. Can’t locate the wide angle resolution in airplay display settings. Is there a fix?

So Apple TV box can’t deal with 21:9 aspect ratio?

It is not documented in support articles, and user reports indicate difficulties and compromises.

(Do you know of any other streaming media players (not computers) that behave differently?)

The Apple TV box will output a video signal intended for 16:9 screens.

It is then up to settings of the monitor with a different aspect ratio, to choose to zoom (and cut off parts), to pillarbox, or to stretch and distort.
