Face time

Why is it that when I FaceTime my wife on our phone every thing works when we start using share screen except when we try to watch a movie. YouTube videos or any other videos we could see each other screen but soon as one of us plays a movie, the person who sharing the screen see the movie but the person on the other side can not see the video. We are separated right now and this feature is everything we need to keep our relationship thriving but it doesn’t work for movie. Please help

This is intended behavior. Because of Digital Rights Management (DRM), you aren't allowed to Screen Share movies.


The exception to this is SharePlay, which is available for certain apps and services. However, both parties need to have access to the media in order to play it.
