iPad Files App Erases Document Highlights

there is this glitch in the iPad where it will erase highlights made to a document. I’ve re- highlighted the same thing in a document over and over countless times in a day because of this, and am beginning to find the apple pen and the files feature rendered pointless if this cannot be corrected, as it is truly the main way in which i interact with the iPad. A respondent said to another complaint “this is not a common issue” but on that complaint were 38 people with the same problem. Please fix this

This is definitely not how the iPad should work, so we want to look into this with you. To start us off, as with all unexpected iPad behavior, try taking the following steps which may help with this: restart your iPad, make sure it is up to date, close the affected app(s), then reopen it and make sure all apps are updated.

Restart your iPad
Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch (current is iPadOS 15.6)
Quit and reopen an app on iPad
How to manually update apps on your Apple device
