Is there any way to hear audio when plugging an external microphone into my iPhone

I have an iPhone 13 Pro. I am trying to use an external microphone for live streaming with other people but once the mic is connected, the phone recognizes it as headphones. I was hoping that I could use both the external mic for sound input and my AirPods as my "speaker". As soon as I attach my AirPods, it uses them as both the mic and speaker. Is there any way around this? Thank you!

We would also suggest checking the with the manufacturer of the external microphone to check which settings may be adjusted that may help as well.
