how do i get imessages on my imac

Open the Messages app on you Mac and go to it's preferences:

1 - in the General pane enter you r Apple ID, Name and photo (if desired):

2 - In the iMessage pane enter your mobile no. and any email addresses you'd like to receive text messages to:

You likely have the Messages app on it already, please look in your Applications folder.
