Moving content from old Mac to new Mac via Time Machine on external hard drive?

My old (Intel) iMac died, totally. Have Time Machine backup on an external hard drive. Any guidance/insights on moving the content of that hard drive to my just-delivered new (M1) Mini Mac would be appreciated. Thanks!

Move your content to a new Mac - Apple Support

Just make sure your Time Machine drive is connected and then select the option that contains Time Machine. You will then be prompted for the Time Machine drive.

You can ignore the rest about the old computer.
