MacBook Air is too slow. The horizontal line that goes from left to right when waiting for a site to open is now stopping in the middle. I've indexed the hard drive and deleted unwanted documents. I have looked into the Activity Monitor but it is all gobble-de-gook to me. I can see the percentages but that's it. I've turned off the router also to no avail. I've also left it in Safe Mode overnight; but it will be slow in Safe Mode anyway. My MacBook Air is eary 2015 and the new iMac can't come soon enough. Any advice please.

macbook air stuck on estimating time remaining My macbook air suddenly started an update about 7 hours ago, and after turning off, it has been stuck on the ‘estimating time remaining’ screen for the last 7 hours. Any ideas of what I can do to regain access to my laptop
