This is a convoluted process with Safari but not with Opera. There seems to be an intermediary page stopping access going forward to a new window. Any suggestions other than the inevitable upgrade?

Yes I am aware of the possible OSs for my model - the mac came with Mojave installed but I didnt like the changes from High Sierra so went back to that which according to my info is the latest for this macbook pro which is late 2011
If you are still running OS X 10.10 as indicated in your post, it is because your browser doesn't meet your bank's requirements due to its age.

Then, back to the original question and my previous reply. Safari apparently doesn't meet your bank's requirements due to it's age. Many banks require a recent browser version for security reasons.
