How to make Safari automatically open in full screen

I used to be able to automatically open Safari in full screen until I bought a new MacBook, now for the life of me I can't get it to do it. The instruction says to go to "general" and uncheck "close window when quitting an application", but I don't have that option listed. Please tell me what to do. Thank you in advance.

Hello yjdurham,

You should be able to address that by unchecking the "Close windows when quitting an app" under the General tab in the System Preferences. This resource also covers that process: Prevent apps and windows from reopening - Apple Support

If you still aren't seeing that option in the System Preferences, is macOS all up to date? Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

Let us know, and we'll go from there.

I understand your confusion- but you are not on the right screen. You have Safari Preferences open, when you should have System Preferences open. Please, follow the instructions below exactly. Your screen should be virtually identical in each of the steps.

First, close the window noted in the picture. This is not the correct preferences screen-

Then, in the bottom Dock of your Mac, click the System Preferences icon at the bottom of your screen. It's circled below-

Then, in the window that opens, click the General icon, circled below-

After that, go down to the setting 'Close windows when quitting an app', circled below, and uncheck the box next to it-

I hope this clears up any confusion you may have. Please post back with any more issues!

Homepage _______

Remove history items________

File download location ________

Remove download list items _______
