i had my vlog camera plugged into my mac book and i imported a few clips into iMovie. i didn’t realize the clips weren’t finished uploading before i unplugged my camera from my laptop so i connected my camera again and re uploaded these videos but it’s been showing me “missing file” in imovie idk how to fix this and youtube has no answer

I tried this, but I got the same issue as when I re-import directly from my SD card to movie. The clip sits right next to the "missing camera" clip, but does not replace it. The missing camera issue persists
The question is, did the re-imported clip play in the iMovie timeline?
It's not going to replace the "missing camera" clip because the missing camera clip never imported in the first place. As long as you have your original source media preserved elsewhere, delete the missing camera clip from iMovie.

is there anyway to do this while preserving my edits? iMovie tells me I cant delete the missing camera clip because it is in use in the timeline. When I plug the SD card back in, I can watch me entire edited video perfectly fine, but the clips still have the camera icon in the corner, keeping me from exporting
Anything imported with edits will be preserved with edits. I meant before that edits that had been done in iMovie, but then the clip became corrupted, any re-imported source media would of course not contain the edits even though it was replacing an edited clip. The edits prior to import that were done in your SD clips will be preserved. So you would be good to go if they successfully import and play in iMovie.
You can get rid of the "missing clips" by selecting them in the timeline and pressing delete on your keyboard. That will remove them from the timeline. They will remain in the media browser and you could just leave them there or delete them.

Instead of importing directly into iMovie use the Image Capture app in the applications folder on your Mac to import the clips to your Mac desktop. Then drag them into iMovie.

And when I follow other videos on how to fix this issue through re-importing, it doesn't work. iMovie just treats the clips like new media, rather than the original media
The clips are in fact new media. The first import failed. As with all new media, the re-imported clips would be unedited.

So even though when I connect the SD card to the computer, the video plays perfectly fine, edits and all, there's no way to preserve those edits?
