New iPad won’t restore data and apps from the cloud

How do I get my new iPad to download data and apps? The apps have all transferred to my iPad Home Screen, but they are not functional and the iPad has indicating it is restoring data but has not progressed in 12 hours. The iPad shows a good connection to WiFi.

iPad, iOS 9

Having transferred your data and settings to your new iPad, in rare circumstances the download and installation of associated Apps can appear to stall.

Try a long-touch (i.e., touch and hold) of any App that appears to be stuck; next select Prioritise Download. This will usually kick-start and complete the App installation process.

Force Restart your iPad:

  • On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
  • On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
