Cannot remove message notifications from Apple Watch

My SE Apple Watch continues to display a message notification number even though there are no new messages. I have tried rebooting my iphone 13 and the watch, which is set to mirror my iphone. Ideas?

Apple watch notification showing unread message My Apple Watch is showing that I have an unread message but I don’t. And before anyone comments, no I didn’t read a message on my phone and not the watch. I already know if you delete or read a message on the iphone it can still show on the watch so I always open it on both. I deleted all messages from my watch and I don’t have anything unread. I turned it off and mirrored/resynced to my phone multiple times and it still shows this. This isn’t the first time this has happened I have to deal with this at least once a month. Why does this continue to happen and is there a way to stop this?

Apple Watch - Unread Message Count Using a Messages complication on my Apple Watch, the Unread count often shows higher than that on my iPhone. I usually read messages on my iPhone, but they often show as Unread on the Watch. To fix this, I have to go in to manually read all messages on the Watch. This can be a pain not only because I have to read the same message twice, but also if I haven't fixed the issue in a while, scrolling down to find the message can be a bear. I already have Message Notifications set to Mirror My iPhone, as was suggested in this thread: Text messages - Apple Community All devices are constantly up-to-date, and regularly restarted. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks.

Number of messages does not show in bubble on Apple Watch 7 I have an iPhone 12 Pro and a series 7 Apple Watch. Ever since updating to iOS 16 and WatchOS 9 the message complication does not show the number of unread messages in the bubble on the watch face. I’ve tried everything I can think of: restarting both, turning notifications on and off, mirroring iPhone and custom setting, changing watch faces, etc. How can I get the number of unread messages to appear in the bubble?

I think this is a bug on the latest watchOS. I have experienced this as well -- happens with Tapbacks, sometimes it won't clear up and the notification remains. Over time, it resets itself, as to how, I don't know.
