apple security warning message in safari

Just typed in a web address and got a screen full of pop-ups saying my computer was locked up and I needed to call an 800-number for Apple support that was NOT and Apple number. I shut down my iMac running macOS Monterey 12.4 and started it up again. All seems fine. Is my system at risk for malware now?

No. To be completely certain, choose Downloads from the Finder's Go menu and throw away everything you don't recognize.
