Can't double click to play songs in Apple Music (my iTunes Library) on a 2019 MacBook Pro with Monterey v12.4

Seems that double-clicking on a song that isn't playing (while another song is playing) won't start the non-playing song.


I haven't seen any specifics about this online or in Apple chats (except for a similar situation from 2009).


I'm hoping it's a simple fix that I haven't discovered. Any helpful tips or recommendations?


I appreciate any input.

My apologies. Putting your computer into Safe Mode probably won't help- sorry about that. I meant to give you instructions to open Music in Safe Mode. To do so, simply hold the OPT + CMD keys while clicking the icon. You should see the dialog box below-



Then, test and see if the issue persists.

Your recommendation has not resolved the issue, unfortunately.


I'm a long-time Mac user and had to resort to purchasing a refurbished 2019 model due to needing it sooner than a new, fully-loaded 2022 MacBook Pro would take to order and receive. So, this issue with Apple Music (my downloaded Library, not Cloud access) is a surprise to me since I wasn't experiencing it prior to this.


Just to make sure, I went to the link on quitting apps (which was very simple instructions) and I'm doing things correctly.


I'm stuck since I haven't found any similar threads or conversations outside the Apple forums.


What would you recommend next?
