You don't say what exact Mac or what exact macOS... but I see you came from the About battery health management in Mac notebooks link.

The built in BHM since macOS Catalina 10.15.5 software manages the battery for you—

>System Preferences>Battery

The rule of thumb — 'if you are near the main leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on battery only.'

this how you extend the working life of your battery. You do not have to micro-manage your battery, let the software work for you, it learns as you go and makes adjustments. It is not static.

Hi sudarsan099,

You can keep your Mac plugged in all the time, but if you do, make sure that it stays at 80% or lower until you want to unplug. It's healthier for the battery to do this - that's why Apple's Optimized Battery Charging feature (as mentioned by leroydouglas) keeps the battery charged at 80% until it thinks you're going to use the device.

Personally, I don't trust Apple's algorithms to figure out my changing schedule, and I use Aldente instead to stop the battery from charging above 70% on my Mac.
