Screen Issue

The screen on my iPhone 12 randomly stopped working this morning. It's not water damaged and I did not drop it. The phone itself seems to be working (vibrating for notifications, calls apparently go through), but the screen stays black the entire time. I plugged it in to the charger, plugged it into my laptop, and tried holding the power button and volume button but none of it has worked. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Try a forced reset:

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME UP
  • Press and quickly release VOLUME DOWN
  • Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (15-30 seconds), ignoring "slide to power off" if it appears

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky.

I’ve seen it before where it got excessively dim randomly and I couldn’t get it working without powering it down. And that was tricky because I couldn’t see the slider. But it could potentially be a case where the display is dead.
