Time machine backup is formatted MAC OS Extended, internal SSD formatted APFS. Can I use backup to restore internal drive?

I'm using a 1T SSD drive in my MacBook Pro mid 2012 formatted with APFS. My Time Machine external backup is 1.4T partition formatted with Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Can I restore my internal drive from this backup?

If not, what should I do to have a restorable backup of my SSD drive?

yes. Time Machine will restore your back-up. It will not clone itself to your internal drive.
