What is iPhoto doing on my new MacBook Pro, and how can I get rid of it?

I recently migrated from a late 2013 iMac to a brand-new (2021) MacBook Pro. The old Mac was continually prompting me to update iPhoto, even though neither the application nor an update for it have. been available since 2015. Now the App Store on the new MacBook Pro is offering me a non-existing update to iPhoto, even though iPhoto doesn't appear in the MacBook's LaunchPad. How can I get rid of it?

Open the Applications folder in Finder, find iPhoto, and drag it to the trash.

If it's not there, then it's likely in some other folder that the Mac can see. Like an external drive or custom photos folder if you made one on the old Mac you Migrated from.
