Your iPad screen, as illustrated in your photo, has suffered considerable damage from a corner impact. While the screen may still be functional, it will likely deteriorate over time.

While fragments of the iPad screen are currently retained by the adhesive of the screen protector, the glass may pose a potential hazard. Similarly, liquid-crystal material may seep from the screen - this being a skin irritant.

You would be best advised to consider screen replacement - although this may be expensive. Unless you have benefit of an active AppleCare+ plan, screen replacement cost is typically c.60% of the “as new” cost of your iPad. In lieu of an actual screen replacement, Apple will often exchange the damaged iPad for a reconditioned device of the same model and specification - the cost being the same.

Apple doesn't replace glass/displays on iPads and return them to the customer. The kind of damage in your photo is fixed by Apple as a complete replacement at a fixed price for pretty much anything other than a battery service. That could mean anything from just a chip in the glass to being run over by a car to board level malfunctions.
