Sorry about the slip up - you are right I meant 5GHz wifi network. My iPhone 12 is able to see & connect to the same network but not my MacBook. So am wondering if I need to change some setting in my laptop?
As Over the years I noticed that in Mac OS & Mac OS X that Wi-fi worked better if a user went into System Preferences->Network and at top of the Network pane is "Location' and drop down select the + button and make you own name helps! Don't worry it still acts like Automatic!

Maybe the 5GHz WiFi Network is not broadcasting its SSID.
"5g" refers to 5th generation cellular network and Macs do not connect to a cellular network.

You question states "macbook air does not see...". If your computer does not "see" the WiFi network make sure the router is broadcasting the network SSID.
Thank you, will check this out.
Thank you
