Hey there, NilesW,

If you are using your VPN to change your online location, this will likely extend to the Find My services as well.

To troubleshoot, make sure your VPN is not only disabled, but also uninstalled (at least temporarily) from any device you're using with it. Restart each device, then use them for about 24 hours and check again. If the location is accurate at that point, you can reinstall your VPN and see if the issue occurs again. If so, we'll know the VPN is changing the way the location is communicated to the Find My services, and to stop the incorrect location you'd need to stop using the VPN.

If uninstalling the VPN does not resolve the issue after 24 hours, please don't hesitate to respond back.

I failed to mention that the vpn was turned off. I had a visitor that day that also signed into my internet, but no vpn, and also had location switched to Indonesia. When I turned off wifi on my devices, my location reverted to being correct. In thinking of changes I had made, I did switch on “notify me “ when my iwatch was separated from my iphone pro, and did also for the iPad Pro as well. I reset my Apple ID password fearing my phone/iPad had been cloned, checked all my financials, but saw nothing irregular. I rebooted each device, turned off location services even on the MacBook Pro. Still showing Indonesia. Even my weather apps were sending weather alerts for Indonesia. Out of ideas, concerned and frustrated, I shut down my modem and deleted the shut off vpn. After the modem off for 15 minutes, I restarted everything and went to bed. When I got up, it seemed some things were back to Florida, and the rest came back slowly. My AirPods were the last, but they are back as well now. For now. I’ll reinstall the vpn tomorrow. Adding to the frustration mix, was the fact that a week ago, my HOA switched internet providers to Frontier Fios, from spectrum. The 1 gig service is nice, but not extraordinary, most of my stuff can’t utilize it. IPhone 11 Promax, iPod promax, and an old MacBook Air. Thanks again for the response to this bizarre issue.
