Does anyone recognize these horizontal lines in the MacBook Pro 2016? And how to get rid of them?

If this were an interlaced display I'd say the refresh rate or resolution was not set properly. But retina displays are progressive, not interlaced.


Still, it's worth checking your display settings - it should be "Default for display," not "Scaled," under normal circumstances. Also, verify under the Color tab to make sure the Display Profile is correct for your Mac (MacBookPro).



Then follow the suggestions in leroydouglas' reply.


If none of the above solves the problem, connect an external display to your MacBookPro and see if the lines also show up on an external display -

  • If they do not show up on the external display it may indicate a problem with your MBP's retina display.
  • If they do show up on the external display it may indicate a problem the GPU.
  • Best, then to have an authorized repair center check out your MBP.
