could be

dirt or lint in the ios devices port when that happen to me I clear it out with a match or toothpick

a defect cable, testing with another cable could show if it is so

a defect port in the ios device

iPhone 12 Pro Max: Wired-Headphone Adaptor No Longer Supported I just plugged in my Lightning wired-headphone adaptor into my iPhone 12 Pro Max, running iOS 16.4, and it responded, ”accessory not supported by this device.” Did something recently change in that regard, possibly related to 16.4? There is another possibility: I was earlier having some issues with the lightning connector (contamination), but they seem to be rectified now.

Had all brand new cables on a new phone. Moral-don’t buy cables at Walmart.
