"The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “Documents” can’t be found."

I keep getting multiple times Documents icons in my Finder.. I removed Documents from "Show these items in the sidebar:" in Finder Preferences. Still I keep getting this error.

When I click on any of the documents, I get this error,

I am using 2021 Mac book pro 16 inch with Mac os 12.4.

Any help is appreciated. TIA.

I Can Not Edit Existing Documents Suddenly I can not edit any existing documents. I can create new documents and save them anywhere. My Mac runs fine (so I must be able to "use" system files normally), but I can not save changes to any existing documents: Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Text, etc. When I look at permissions for the files and the folders in each instance, I see what looks correct: "xxx(me) | Read & Write" But when I try to save a Word file, e.g., I get a pop up stating "The document [name] could not be saved." I can't think of any reasons other than permissions, but maybe I am missing something? Thanks for any help. (despite what it says below, I am running OS 12.7.4)

Finder keeps giving me the error: "The operation can’t be completed because the item can’t be found." Since a few weeks ago the Finder on my MacBook Pro (M1) is broken. I am not sure what I did to cause this. For example, if I try to go to "Recents" I get "The operation can’t be completed because the item can’t be found." It's the same for "Documents" and "Desktop" Can anybody solve this? Thanks! [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Try deleting Finder preferences:

In Finder, press Command-Shift-G and paste

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist

Drag the file out of the folder, and relaunch the Finder.
