I have forgotten my apple ID and password on a phone that was gave me

Get in touch with the person who gave you the phone and ask them to remove the lock on the phone. The iPhone is useless until this occurs.

If it's Activation Locked, only the owner who it is locked to can unlock it. Unless they unlock it, you will never be able to use that phone.
