iCloud Photos
I had not set up iCloud photos on my phone when I first got it. I am now putting all my photos into the cloud and it has been going now for 5 days. What did I do wrong?

You did nothing wrong. Depending on the size of your library, the initial sync may take days. Plug in the phone overnight and it will work on syncing.
