Where is my dictation function?

Over the weekend my Mac Mini (OS 12.4) seems to have forgotten how to take dictation. Last week I dictated freely into Word (v. 16.62). Today, though neither Word nor Pages (v. 12.1) records my dictation.

In Word I do not see any indication as to what the problem is. But in Pages I do not see the dictation tool in the Edit menu. I have seen that tool before. It is not there now.

I did not change any settings in my computer over the weekend. What would make the dictation tool disappear from Pages?

You're correct. It should be there.

Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. That sometimes corrects some glitches.

The dictation tool in Pages came back. But I am still having trouble with dictating in both Word and Pages. I have tried two different microphones. Neither works.

System Preferences > Keyboard > Dictation. Get you to theMac's dictation panel
