iMessage going as ordinary text

My brother and I both have iphones. When I send anyone else a text, it goes as an iMessage. Everything to my brother goes as an ordinary text message. I have checked his settings and he has iMessage turned on. What am I missing?

hmmm....Interesting. I haven't heard of that happening unless imessage is off. It is a feature of imessage, so honestly, I would contact Apple Support for help. I couldn't imagine it being a TMobile issue.

Good luck & if you don't mind, please post a fix if you find one. I am very curious as to why that is happening.

So, if I am understanding correctly, when you send your brother a text it shows as a green text bubble and when you send to everyone else it shows as a blue text bubble? Is that right? Do you send texts to any other iphone users and if so, what color is the text bubble to them?

The mystery is solved. There is another setting that tells the phone "where to start new messages". My brother had it set to his Apple ID (email address) instead of his phone number. Once I reset it to his phone number, it works perfectly.

I am not even sure of the point of being able to send a text from an email address.
