Hi, I have a new MacBook Pro and I want to connect an old 27" iMac released in mid 2011 (with macOS High Sierra 10.13.6) as a monitor. Is this possible? What should I do?

If you mean new as in recently produced, it won't work. No recent Macs can use Target Display Mode.
