iMovie moving clips and randomly deleting them

I have iMovie in MacOS Monterey on an M1 MacBook Air, and I just want to use the app, but of course that's too much for it to handle, so it will bug out and glitch. What I mean by this is I had a project, and I have around 10-15 clips in it, with the project a little over 4 minutes long. I will highlight a group of 4 clips and move them, but on won't move, and then when I individually select it to move it and move it a pixel, one of the other clips disappears. It will randomly space my clips out so there are 5-10 seconds of silence, and when I try to move them together the one before it disappears. This goes in an infinite loop until the end of time, and so please excuse my tone for I just want to get it done and these little glitches make it unusable (like for real). I can provide a video if anyone would like. Thanks for any help anyone can give in advance.

By the way, I know that someone had a similar problem and made a post in 2018, but the issue is still not resolved...

You could try booting up in Safe Mode and, after everything loads, immediately shut down and reboot in normal mode. Sometimes that cleans out glitches and conflicts. Don't try to start iMovie while in Safe Mode because it will not do so.

Another thing you can try is to open iMovie in a new library. Open iMovie while holding down the Option key and choose a different library or create a new library, in the box that appears.

As you have found, iMovie is not operating properly.

Try deleting preferences. To delete preferences, open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if iMovie functions correctly.  Deleting preferences is a safe procedure that will not cause data loss or disruption to your project.

Another thing that you can try is to create a new project and see if iMovie operates correctly there.

Thank you for your reply. I deleted the preferences and then opened the project and the problem still persisted. I had created a new project yesterday and I was able to get things working there, and did not encounter the issue, for the most part (it would occasionally delete stuff, but it was less frequent. Do you know of any other methods I could use to prevent this from happening?
