we have a router and modem in one Xfinity unit. There is also a rather old airport hooked up. i dont think we need both and am wondering if i can just desconnect the airport without any issues. We have iphones, mac and ipads here.

If all of your devices are connecting to the Xfinity modem/router's Wi-Fi network at this time, then you can disconnect the AirPort without creating any problems.
