We have a router and modem in one Xfinity unit. There is also a rather old airport hooked up. I don’t think we need both and am wondering if i can just disconnect the airport. Will this cause any problems? We have iphones, mac and ipads here.

If all of your devices are connecting to the Xfinity modem/router's Wi-Fi network at this time, then you can disconnect the AirPort without creating any problems.
