Midi Events disappear immediately in Logic

When I record a midi track, it shows up in the edit window so I know there are midi events happening. When I press "stop" all of the info disappears. It's weird. Any advice?

This makes editing a real challenge for me as I prefer to edit by ear. All devices and setting the same unless there's been a logic update that has thrown a curve ball at me. MIDI not recording I'm sure it's something super simple and obvious - to someone, but not to me right now! I am trying to record some soft synths inside Logic. I have a MIDI controller that is definitely working, as I can see and hear signal when I play the sound. When I press record the track looks like it is recording but does not record any notes. When I finish the recording it just leaves a 1 bar empty region. Whenever I change a MIDI setting in the preferences I seem to be able to record once, but not again. Anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks.

MIDI FOLKS!! Midi being sent back to external instrument being played causing doubling/phasing I'm using a cp88 keyboard (port 1 ch 1) sending midi over usb to logic. I want to record both the midi and the audio at the same time. But whenever I click on the midi track to record midi info I get phasing. I assume whats happening is the midi is going in and straight back out to double play the note. This happens whether is a regular midi track or one using external instrument plugin Is there a way to "mute" the midi outputs while recording. Turning off (power) the track doesn't fix it, nor does turning off the external midi plugin. The only solution I have is to click on a seperate audio track which for some reason records the midi info?? another odd midi thing. Then drag it to the midi track so I can use it for playback. If I switch to port 2 it fixes the phasing problem but then I lose playback??

What are you adding midi data with?

do you press the space bar to stop or use the button on the transport with your mouse?

it is a midi track?

have you any keystrokes learnt that may delete?

has it always done this

and version number would be helpful
