If you have an Intel Mac: Have you tried reset your nvram/pram?? Do this with an external keyboard

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

After that (or if you have a Mac with apple silicon) try to boot in to the safe mode and see if the problem persists How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support
